My Story
After discovering the music of the Beatles in high school, I began writing, recording, and producing my own songs. While my musical interests shifted from rock to classical to jazz and finally to pop music over the years, I never stopped writing music and after releasing several singles, I released my first album "Softspoken Boy" under the name "Jon Flowers" this year.

Education
I received my Bachelor of Music degree
from Five Towns College in 2020 where I studied
Music Teacher Education. I returned to
college in 2024 after three years of teaching general
music in public schools to pursue a Master of
Music degree in Studio Composition from Purchase College.

What I'm doing now...
I'm currently a substitute teacher, freelance piano teacher, and the music director at Congregation of the Messiah church in Tuckahoe, NY.

6. What is your songwriting process like and how long does it take? My songwriting process varies from song to song. Most often, I start with a melody. Frequently, I may start with a chord progression or instrumental. Occasionally, I start with a lyric. While writing, producing, recording, and mixing a demo of a song may only take one day, a song will typically go through several stages of revisions at each stage of the process. Changes may need to be made to a lyric, a part may need to be re-recorded, or an entire song may need to be re-worked with a different arrangement. This is all part of the process and I am happy to continue working with a client on their project until we are both satisfied with the result.
